HOLY FUCK IT WAS SO FAST!

I'm going to wash my Sonic and take a bit to process my thoughts and do a more complete write up.

Quick impressions: unreal power. Just...my god. I can't even think how to express it. I've never experienced anything like that. It's unbelievably powerful, and at any given moment. 6th gear doing 40? It pulls like a monster. Speed limits are gone in an instant. You can't even get over 4000 rpm without reaching license losing speeds

It sounds furious. It feels like America. It's so much more capable than anything I've ever driven I can't even comment on the handling because I couldn't even smell the limit. Turn in feels incredible. It feels light and nimble, which is shocking. You feel like Reagan riding a bear while firing M16s into a terrorists eyeball. It's the most american thing I've ever experienceed

Unreal. Thank you so much to a Frank at Carmax for letting me experience this. I'll never be the same. I need one. Best car I've ever driven, hands down no questions asked. I'm practically still shaking.

I'll do a better write up later. Until then, keep dreaming about those dream cars Opponauts: they're everything you could imagine and more

yes sir. I drove one just a couple miles up the freeway and it was a pure Murica-gasm. I can't fathom how GM says the C7 Z06 is quicker than it.

I can't fathom how cars are more powerful. I mean it wasn't scary, but I couldn't get close to flat out without going way too fast. That's part of what I want to write about in a better write up: it's too much power. Not that it's a bad thing, but it's excessive. I don't know that I'd pay the premium over a standard C6 if I wasn't such a huge corvette fanboy

I've been lucky enough to drive a couple Corvettes now, and I just can't fathom how fast this car must feel. I've never driven anything with more than 420ish hp, so 638 just sounds insane. Pretty nice of Carmax to let you take it for a spin!

This is my dilemma (as if I could even afford a base C6). I like to think I'd be happy with a base car, especially considering the type of driving I'd be doing... but power. So much power.

Having driven both, the base C6 is more than enough power. It's crazy fast, the ZR1 is just fucking insane. You buy a base C6 if you want a ridiculously powerful fun car. You buy a Z06 for track days. You buy a ZR1 because you love corvettes and want the craziest one ever made.

The ZR1 is too much for daily driving, and more than anyone would need for casual track days. I want one as part of a Corvette collection because of what it is.

In the base C6 you can floor it and go ridiculously fast. You can drive it like a madman and be okay.

You can't do it in a ZR1. It's just so god damn powerful. I wasn't driving any faster than I was in the C6 because I just couldn't get on it for very long. I think day to day the base C6 might actually be more fun...driving the ZR1 is just playing a game of how long you can keep your license.

Obviously if I had the money I'd buy a ZR1, but honestly I think it's more of a special occasion type of car whereas the base car is a solid DD

It couldn't go hard from a stop, it just spun tires. At high speeds it just feels stable and a bit slow. You'd be going insanely fast before you got in trouble

Maybe. 0-60 times are comparable. I don't know how the Shelby feels but I know the standard C6 and the 5.0 GT are night and day, the LS2 just has so much freaking torque down low.

Do yourself a favour..and either buy this one..or buy a regular Corvette. Nothing else will do unless its an AMG Mercedes or BMW M Series or ok other things will do but the Corvette is fun
